CyberGif is shareware and I would like to know if you use it. (Why? So I can get encouragement to write more software--that's why!)
In order to make it easy for those of you who use this program, I have come up with my own personal shareware system. The responsible Mac owner will do ONE of the following:
1) Send me $15.
2) Send me $10 plus a disk.
3) Send me one disk filled with your favorite GIF images. What kind of GIFs should you send? Well, anything you want, from beautiful scenery to beautiful playmates. (The latter may speed delivery, however :^) )
For this you will receive a manual and a registered copy of CyberGif returned to you on the disk you send to me (if you sent one, I'll supply the disk for Option #1 users). In addition, you will receive my heartfelt thanks.
*) Recently, I have been noticing that my postage bills have been getting larger and larger...
If you REALLY want to speed delivery :^), include $2 to cover postage and handling. It takes about 75 cents to mail and about 10 minutes a letter to look at all those great gifs, plus a trip to the post office. Yes, I can hear your sighs. Thank you for your concern.
See how easy it is? Now if you actually use it, you must have some spare GIFs lying around, so c'mon, please choose one of the options and mail to:

#####What is CyberGif?
CyberGif is a Macintosh GIF viewer.
"Why another one?" you may ask. Well, I wasn't happy with the state-of-the-art in Macintosh GIF viewers. So, I tried the other gif viewers/editors and found the features that I wanted in a GIF viewer. These features include:
-Slide Show--just put the GIFs you want in a directory and watch the full screen show! -Dithering--CyberGif allows black & white Macs (w/ColorQD) to see GIF files! Please note that CyberGif does this AUTOMATICALLY only if all monitors hooked up to the Mac are in two color mode. Multiple monitors of differing depths may confuse CyberGif. A future version will fix this.
-Growable/Scrollable windows--you can choose to stretch/shrink the window!
-Fit Gif to Screen--and keeps the GIF proportions correct!
-Full Screen Window--for those times when a window and menu bar are too distracting!
-System Palette Option--see how the GIF would look as a background picture!
-Information Window--look at the current GIF's colors and much more!
-Flash--get rid of color residue that most GIF viewer leave in the background!
#####What is a GIF file?
A GIF file is a file that contains a picture. The picture is compressed as far as it can be in order to transmit it over phone lines quickly and so that it occupies as little disk space as possible. GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format, and was invented by Compuserve.
#####How do I use CyberGif?
Well, here I may disappoint you. In order to "push" you to register with me. I'm not going to include any help with CyberGif. I hope this doesn't anger anyone, I just can't think of any better way to get people to register without releasing "cripple-ware". Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with this, I'd still like to hear from you. Please send any responses to the above address or contact me on AOL. Remember there may be lots of neat features in CyberGif that I know about--but won't tell you until you register.
#####NOTES:
CyberGif has been developed and tested on a Macintosh IIcx running System 7.0 with both Virtual Memory and 32-bit mode on.
On any machine without Color Quickdraw, CyberGif dies a quick and ugly death. This will be fixed in a future version.
On multiple-monitor machines, automatic dithering will not work unless the main screen is set to 1-bit mode.
#####Version History
1.0 - (May, 1992)
- This is the first official release of CyberGif.
1.1 - (June, 1992)
- This version hopefully fixes the problems that some users had with Mac LCs and the HDT Lightshow init. It also includes a way to pause the slideshow.
1.2 - (July, 1992)
- Fixes problem some users had with bigger-than-the-screen GIFs.
1.3 - (January, 1993)
- Now allows all files that show up in "Open" dialog box to be used in SlideShow.
- Fixes all known memory "leaks" that would force you to restart CyberGif.
- Fixes problems some users had with multiple monitors.
- Fixes all known bombs that users had problems with.
(Note: This is not the "next version" with lots of neat features that I have been working on for the past few months. This is basically a bug-fix version. Please bear with me while I finish up Version 2.0.
As a teaser, I'll tell you a few of the features Version 2.0 will have:
- Much-enhanced slide show. More controls and customization.
- GIF89a support.
- Works with any depth screen.
- Better dithering interface.
- and much, much, more!)
#####Future Improvements (if I get enough encouragement--hint, hint)
-GIF89a support. (V2.0)
-better slide show, more customizable. (V2.0)
-dithering for all B/W Macs.
-whatever YOU want. Just write me, we'll talk.

***Non-U.S. Users, I realize that converting your currency into the equivalent of $10 U.S. is not easy or cheap. So, if you would like to actually pay for CyberGif, consider sending one of each of your countries coins. Your pocket change is my treasure. My entire coin collection was stolen about a year ago and I am trying to replenish it. Thanks.
***If you hope to trade GIFs with me, I'm sorry but I just can't spare any more time than I'm already giving to CyberGif Development.
